SHOOT: Road Biker Extras at Two Chefs & a Table for WORDS AND PICTURES

Last Thursday feature film Words and Pictures had a last-minute casting call for bike rider extras to film on Monday. Turns out the scene was not a road race as expected but a gathering of friends in bike gear inside Two Chefs & a Table restaurant on Alexander Street in the Downtown Eastside.

The scene: outside the restaurant — renamed The Grill — a man in spandex bike attire talks on his cellphone before going inside to join his road racer friends.

Keeping warm and limber between takes.

Later Words and Pictures filmed scenes inside the restaurant.

It was the end of a full day of shooting in Gastown which began at 90 Alexander Street with a scene of writer-turned-teacher Jack (Clive Owen) meeting with his son outside an apartment and talking. That was followed by a scene of a car driving west on Alexander Street from Main Street. And then the road bikers at Two Chefs & a Table.

Logline: Jack, a charismatic writer/poet, and Dina, an enigmatic, well-respected painter, are past their peak years as critical darlings when they meet and clash as teachers at an established prep school. As Jack’s extroverted wit clashes with Dina’s private nature, mutual dislike turns into rivalry and the battle of Words and Pictures begins.
