Rounding the seawall at south False Creek in Vancouver last Wednesday morning, I could hear high-pitched squealing from inside a ring of food trucks — Gangsta Wraps, In the Vegan-ing, Meat and Mrs. Jones, The Kaboom Box and Macho Tacos — at Leg in Boot Square. It made me laugh because this had to be Psych’s Food Truck episode, an episode I had not expected to see after it lost the season eight fan episode contest. Producers must love #DeliciousFlavor too.
Synopsis: When the well-known owner of a beloved Santa Barbara food truck is mysteriously murdered, Shawn and Gus, fans of delicious flavor, are determined to solve the crime as only they can. They go undercover as proprietors of the PSYCH Naptime Food Truck, and soon discover that the high-profit world of Santa Barbara’s mobile food business is cutthroat, insular and a place of many secrets – many of them worth killing for.
Do you see the beloved owner of Macho Tacho, slumped over his counter with a knife in his back? Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) wailed and wrestled with each other at the crime scene until Lassie (Timothy Omundson) told them to get a hold of themselves.
A family from Bellingham visited the set after I’d left and Shawn and Gus had gone undercover at their [Mash & Grab] food truck. Psych crew let them watch the scene on monitors in the video village and even listen in on some of the dialogue with head sets. I can only imagine how much fun it was to hear Shawn and Gus, who love their snacks, working in a food truck. Later the Mom and her two boys met both actors.
