M. Night Shyamalan’s FOX event series Wayward Pines began filming in and around Vancouver this week but not on its still-under-construction street set on Pioneer Avenue in Agassiz east of Vancouver. It’ll be a while before a secret service agent walks this fictional Idaho street in search of two missing federal agents and maybe some cherry pie in the rain. Like A&E’s Bates Motel, the upcoming 10-episode series is a cross between Twin Peak and The X-Files. “What is it about Vancouver that is so creepy?”  asked showrunner Shawn Ryan at Paley Fest in May. Whatever it is, keep these series coming and count on the Vancouver crew from AMC’s The Killing to bring out the creepiness in Wayward Pines.

Synopsis: Secret service agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) comes to Wayward Pines, Idaho, to investigate the disappearance of two federal agents when an accidents puts him in hospital with no identification or cell phone where he is cared for by a nurse (Melissa Leo) and treated by a psychiatrist (Toby Jones). The longer he stays, the closer Burke gets to his former Secret Service partner Kate Hewson (Carla Gugino) who lives in Wayward Pines and the further away he is from his wife (Shannyn Sossamon) and son (Charlie Tahan) at home. Other Wayward Pines residents include Sheriff Pope (Terence Howard) and town bartender Beverly (Juliette Lewis). Will Burke ever leave?
