SHOOT: Karl Urban & Michael Ealy Film ALMOST HUMAN in Vancouver’s Business District for 1×03 Are You Receiving?

Some cops are born. Others are made.

How do you recognize an Almost Human set? The new J.J. Abrams/J.H. Wyman sci-fi procedural is set 35 years from now in 2048 Los Angeles when human police officers are paired with humanoid robot partners. So look for futuristic police squad cars (Fords underneath), motorcycles, bar code license plates, prop Quick Volt stations , Quick Stands and part-robot human police officer John Kennex (Karl Urban) walking with his part-human robot partner Dorian (Michael Ealy). Almost Human closed the 1000 block of West Hastings Street today near Oceanic Plaza and turned the Guiness Tower into the Danvers Building for scenes of Los Angeles police arriving at a future crime scene. What’s the crime? We’ll have to wait and see because that’s the fun of the series — seeing how criminals might take advantage of future technology in creative ways.

  1. I think it’s progressing at a decent pace…I can already see subtexts being laid down such as Urban’s “take no prisoners” stance that you know are going to pop-up later on. The show is fantastic, I’m enjoying it immensely and the duo dynamic is great. Karl and Michael really have chemistry. It’s my new fav show.
