SHOOT: TOMORROWLAND Dance Party at H.R. MacMillan Space Centre

“This is the most expensive dance party you’re ever going to go to.” – Tomorrowland director.

What to do with 300 extras dressed as if they’re at the 1964 New York World’s Fair while you wait for the sun to come out? How about a dance party? That’s what happened on the Tomorrowland set last Friday afternoon outside the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre/Museum of Vancouver. All of a sudden you could hear disco songs blasting from behind blue screens: Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean. Let’s Do the Hustle. Daft Punk’s Get Lucky. Stompa. The Macarena. Age of Aquarius. Surfing USA. And of course, Walking on Sunshine.

And it worked. The sun came out on the Walt Disney “it’s a small world” set in the parking lot for scenes of  the Tomorrowland mayor (Hugh Laurie) and the little robot girl (Raffey Cassidy) walking through the gate among a crowd of Fair-goers.
