What better place to shoot a teen-girl-porno murder-mystery described as a cross between Twin Peaks and The Killing than Vancouver? Brit actor Jack Davenport (This Life, Coupling, Swingtown, Smash) and American actress Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter’s sister) are headed here this March to play the two leads in ABC pilot Sea of Fire.
An American adaption of the Dutch series Vuurzee, Sea of Fire is about a local sheriff Marty Kesowich (Davenport) and an FBI agent Leah Pierce (Carpenter) investigating the fallout from a pornographic film starring three local teen girls on their families and others in a small town. One girl goes missing, someone is murdered and the town secrets are about to be exposed. Does the sheriff delve into the case or cover up his seemingly-perfect daughter (Isabelle Cornish)’s involvement? Does the uncompromising FBI agent alienate everyone with her blunt questions or can she and the sheriff find a way to work together?
The local minister (Jeffrey Nordling) is the father of the missing girl whose troubled boyfriend becomes a suspect in her disappearance.
Sea of Fire is scripted by Scandal writer Jenna Bans, so can we expect speed-plotting and maybe some great coats? Plus the possible off-set reunion of Jack Davenport with his Swingtown swinger Lana Parrilla of Once Upon a Time.
Filming of the Sea of Fire pilot is expected to start March 4th and wrap on the 20th (dates subject to change).
