UPDATE: Intruders introduces us to Jack Whelan (John Simm) in this Deep Cove scene from the series premiere of the cop-turned-writer looking at his book on display in the window. Whelan is holding a birthday cake for his wife Amy (Mira Sorvino) in the pink box. If I’d waited a little longer I’d have seen intruder Amy (Sorvino) join her husband (Simm) to walk down Gallant Avenue dressed as Birch Crossing, Washington.
Brit actor John Simm (Doctor Who’s The Master, Life on Mars, State of Play) tweeted a photo from North Vancouver’s Deep Cove today where the eight-part BBC America series Intruders is filming on Gallant Avenue. The scene: cop-turned-writer Jack Whelan (John Simm) stops outside a display of his book Afterlife: Essays and Crime Scene Photos in the front window of the ennead book store in Birch Crossing, Washington.
Intruders is about a secret society whose members aim to live forever by hijacking other people’s bodies, based on the 2007 Michael Marshall novel of the same name. Whelan (John Simm) leaves Los Angeles for the Pacific Northwest in a bid to escape a dark past, but his sins comes back to haunt him when his wife Amy (Mira Sorvino who plays two characters in one body) goes missing. Do the Intruders have her? Yes they do.
Locals might get to see more than the back of Simm’s head around suppertime when production films a walk-and-talk on Gallant Avenue [Mira Sorvino joined her TV husband for the walk-and-talk].
Intruders is downtown tomorrow to film walking and talking scenes up Hamilton Street to this Burnell Lytton Chartered Accountants set.
