After the death of his parents, bartender (Anton Yelchin) returns to his hometown where he falls in love with an “enigmatic” woman (New Girl’s geek charming Zooey Deschanel) in the film adaption of Tom Drury’s novel The Driftless Area. Somehow this pits him against a volatile criminal (John Hawkes), directed by Zachary Sluser from a screenplay co-written with the author. The dark comedy starts filming in Vancouver on May 14th (date subject to change).
