Since Once Upon a Time’s season one finale when Charming and Snow found out in Storybrooke who they really are, this couple has experienced their happy ending on screen and off, with actors Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin recently marrying and expecting their first child in real life.
Not so for fan-favourite #Rumbelle (Robert Carlyle and Emilie de Ravin) who spent most of season three separated from one another. Rumplestiltskin and Belle likely will get married in tonight’s two-hour season finale, but is it a happy ending for the pair? After all, Rumple asked to marry Belle as a ruse to get his hands on his Dark One’s dagger to kill the Wicked Witch/Zelana (Rebecca Mader). [Update: #Rumbelle got a happy ending, with a wedding in the woods].
And what about #CaptainSwan (Colin O’Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison)? Is it too soon for a happy ending for them, after Neal/Baelfire (Michael Raymond-James)’s sacrifice? Perhaps they will be too busy in the Enchanted Forest of the past, where they must be careful not to alter anything as they search for a way back from Zena’s time portal? At least they get to dance together at a ball in full fairy tale costume with Hook out of his leathers for once. [Update: #CaptainSwan got their happy ending with Emma embracing Hook on a bench at Granny’s Diner filmed in Steveston as Storybrooke].
And what of #OutlawQueen (Sean Maguire and Lana Parrilla), perhaps the most popular couple yet in Once Upon a Time’s three seasons. Fans will feel cheated if this new couple don’t get their happy ending tonight. [And they definitely didn’t get a happy ending with Emma unknowingly bringing back Robin Hood’s lost love Maid Marian from the past to Storybrooke. Things seem dire for #OutlawQueen and for #SwanQueen, with Regina blaming Emma for destroying her new-found happiness.]
