Big-budget $100-million-plus live-action film Monster Trucks, from Ice Age director Chris Wedge, took over the Five Corners of downtown Chilliwack dressed as Anderson, North Dakota, again this week for more of the big “cat and mouse” chase scene. On Monday night, I saw cast Lucas Till and Jane Levy climb aboard an animation-style monster truck with cameras on the hood, which is towed by a process trailer to film their reactions as the truck is chased by a sheriff’s car and sinister black trucks down streets and around corners.

Monster Trucks has been filming and re-filming the chase scene this month with different camera setups in downtown Chilliwack. This week’s shoots have young cast on set in the process-trailer scenes, but like the earlier five days of filming at the Five Corners actual driving is done by stunt performers. Tuesday afternoon’s race down Wellington Street with the sheriff’s car and big black trucks in pursuit used the stunt doubles, too.
Hurry up and wait. Stunt doubles talk to director Chris Wedge and wait for scene to set up.
