Who saw Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit) in Storybook last night? Cruella, Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Ursula (Merrin Dungey) strode down Moncton Street in Steveston like some kind of evil triumverate. No dalmatians in sight. Not even Archie’s Pongo. But production has designed an iconic black-and-white costume (without Dalmatian spots) for the Disney villain and built a cool black-and-white ride with red interior and DE VIL license plates.
Seeing Cruella de Vil yesterday makes it a little easier to say goodbye to all the Frozen characters who’ve populated Vancouver this summer and fall as Once Upon a Time cast and crew head into a well-deserved hiatus next week for American Thanksgiving. ABC’s hit fairy tale series should return to Steveston in December for more all-hell-breaks-loose scenes before the Christmas hiatus.
