Updated: Big-budget feature Deadpool wants to close the Georgia Viaduct to downtown Vancouver in April to film several stunt sequences. The Merc With a Mouth launchs himself off a freeway overpass down to an SUV on the road below, crashing through the sun roof into the back seat. These screen caps are from the test footage Ryan Reynolds made with his director Tim Miller which helped greenlight the movie.

“The use of the Viaduct is necessary to accommodate a critical scene that requires the appearance of highway overpasses entering a major urban centre,” Executive Producer John Kelly told Global News BC.

Georgia Viaduct Closures:
Deadpool is the character Reynolds played in Wolverine, an X-Men Origins movie starring Hugh Jackman, but that film wasn’t true to the amoral motormouth. In Marvel comic-book lore. Wade Wilson is a wise-cracking gun-for-hire with cancer who partakes in military experiments to cure himself by replicating Wolverine’s mutant ability to heal quickly. The experiment succeeds except Wilson ends up terribly scarred. In Wolverine, Deadpool was surgically altered and mouthless. That won’t happen in Deadpool the movie. This motormouth talks through his mask.
Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin is expected to film in and around Vancouver for the next two months.
