Hello Mrs. Robinson. As part of a promotion for the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey blu-ray release, Universal shared kinky Seattle billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) donning a black mask for Fifty Shades Darker. In the sequel, young Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) confronts “Mrs. Robinson” aka Elena Lincoln — the woman who seduced Christian when he was 15 years old — at a Grey family masquerade ball.
Filming of the sequel in Vancouver is not expected to start until late this year or next year. Not because Fifty Shades of Grey was unsuccessful. Just the opposite. The $40-million R-rated film made a $275 million debut and has earned over $500 million worldwide so far but director Sam Taylor-Johnson is not returning, author E.L. James’s husband Niall Leonard has replaced Kelly Marcel as screenwriter and leads Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson will negotiate new contracts after only being paid $250,000 each for the first film. Hence the delay.
Fifty Shades Darker is expected in theatres February 10th, 2017. And Fifty Shades Freed — the third in the trilogy –is expected in theatres a year later on February 9th, 2018.
