Humour with a “u”! I can’t seem to shake it. Vancouver crew made me so proud I could spit. World class. https://t.co/FUwuRvTmtG

Backstrom had one of the toughest time slots in American network television — Thursdays at 9 p.m. The FOX 13-episode mid-season series premiered to a healthy 8 million viewers on January 22nd but declined steadily after that as The Blacklist and Scandal duked it out for time slot supremacy on TGIT (Thank God It’s Thursday). The crime-dy’s season finale on April 30th is now its series finale.

What is Backstrom about?: Brilliant but boorish Portland detective Everett Backstrom (Rainn Wilson) returns to work five years after being kicked out for offensive behaviour. It’s up to members of his newly-formed Serious Crimes Unit like Detective Sgt. John Almond (Dennis Haysbert), Detective Nicole Gravely (Genevieve Angelson), Sgt Peter Niedermayer (Kristoffer Polaha) and ex-MMA fighter Officer Frank “the Muscle” Moto (Page Kennedy) to handle his oafishness and make sure his unorthodox methods hold up in court. Gregory Valentine (Thomas Dekker) is his roommate — and a relation it turns out.
Backstrom filmed all over metro Vancouver.
Catch up with Backstrom on a streaming service later this year.
