Showtime greenlit Cameron Crowe’s dramedy pilot Roadies — about the crew members working behind the scenes for a famous rock band — to series after re-casting Carla Gugino (Wayward Pines) as the female lead. The music-filled pilot shot in Vancouver early this year with Luke Wilson and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) as the original leads and then returned for reshoots with Gugino this summer.
Cameron Crowe, a former teen Rolling Stone writer turned film director, returns to his roots with this series. as told in his semi-autobiographical film Almost Famous about the fictitious band Stillwater. J. J. Abrams, Winnie Holzman and Bryan Burke executive produce.
Roadies shot almost all of its hour-long pilot inside Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum.
Roadies premieres in 2016.
