The female Van Helsing series will shoot in metro Vancouver early next year, as expected. In the 13-episode series, newly created character Vanessa Helsing (yet to be cast) is the daughter of the vigilante vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, whom Bram Stroker originated in his 1897 novel Dracula. Resurrected five years into the future, Vanessa Helsing discovers that vampires rule the world and she’s humanity’s last hope to take it back from them.

Filmmaker/playwright Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men) is the showrunner and Vanouver’s own Simon Barry (Continuum) an executive producer with Nomadic Pictures. Syfy has acquired the American rights for the series which will debut September 2016.
