Godzilla mashed with Being John Malkovich? That’s Colossal with Anne Hathaway as a woman whose mental breakdown is strangely connected to a giant Lizard terrorizing [Seoul, Korea]. Is this wonderful Victorian house in Fort Langley the home that Gloria (Anne Hathaway) returns to after losing her job and fiancé in New York? Once back she discovers she’s connected to events in [Seoul] with her mind. How does someone so ordinary have such a “colossal” effect on the world?

Written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo., Colossal is a much smaller sci-fi movie (albeit with a big star) than blockbuster Godzilla, which filmed in metro Vancouver and on Vancouver Island during the spring of 2013. Jason Sudekis (Saturday Night Live) is Gloria’s childhood friend grown up. And Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, Night at the Museum) is her ex-fiancee. The film co-stars Austin Stowell (Bridge of Spies) and Tim Blake Nelson.
Colossal is filming in Fort Langley all week. And this explains the Anne Hathaway sighting in Wendel’s Book Store and Cafe a few weekends ago.
