Perfect casting? Kim Basinger is set to play Seattle billionaire Christian Grey’s “Mrs. Robinson” in Fifty Shades Darker, which starts filming in Vancouver in mid-February. Elena Lincoln is the older woman who seduced Christian as a teen and introduced him to BDSM, making him the screwed-up man he is today. Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson) meets Elena at a masquerade ball at the Grey family residence and the two women become instant enemies. Ana because she finds it disgusting what Elena did to a 15-year-old. And Elena because she realizes that Ana is not another of Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan)’s submissives but someone he loves.

Fifty Shades of Grey, the first film in trilogy, grossed more than half a billion dollars worldwide on an estimated budget of $40 million. James Foley will direct the back-to-back productions based on scripts by Niall Leonard, husband to the erotic trilogy’s author E.L. James.
Filming is expected to start February 16th and wrap July 12th next year (dates subject to change) according to today’s Directors Guild of Canada-BC list. Production code is Further Adventures of Max and Banks 2 & 3.
Fifty Shades Darker will be in theatres on February 16, 2017 and Fifty Shades Freed opens a year later on February 9, 2018.
