LOCATION: POWER RANGERS Movie Set Up at Vancouver’s Gladstone Secondary School For First Week

Power Rangers morphin overnight on the south field at Vancouver’s Gladstone Secondary School? Wouldn’t that be great? Lionsgate’s big-budget Power Rangers movie is set up around the high school ahead of the start of its three-month shoot in metro Vancouver next week.Two overnight chase shoots are expected on nearby streets too.

Stunt: Monday through Wednesday overnight (February 29 through March 2) Power Rangers will film police cruisers chasing a pickup truck out of the Gladstone parking lot across the gravel field and onto nearby Sidney and East 26th Streets. Swerving to avoid a garbage truck, the pickup truck ends up rolling over onto its roof.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have been around since the early 1990s.The pop culture phenomenon launched in 1993 as a TV series about a group of teens who can morph into super-powered primary-coloured warriors and is still in production two decades later, with an ever-changing cast. More than 200 actors have been on the series, including Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston as a voice actor, Amy Jo Johnson, Brandon McLaren, Eka Darville, Adelaide Kane and iZombie’s Rose McIver as a Yellow Ranger (production of the TV series moved to New Zealand in 2003).

Elizabeth Banks (actress and director of Pitch Perfect 2) is the villainous Rita Repulsa, joining Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger and Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger.

Ludi Lin is the Black Ranger.

Dacre Montgomery is the Red Ranger.

Naomi Scott is the Pink Ranger.

Dean Israelite will direct the film based on a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stenz and franchise creator Haim Saban will produce.

Filming is expected to start in Vancouver on February 29th and wrap May 25th (dates subject to change) with the production code SHIRT via the Directors Guild of Canada-BC Production List. And production sign SPC.
