VFX: STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, EX-MACHINA & MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Panels at SPARK FX 2016 in Vancouver

Team Bear from The Revenant won’t be at tomorrow’s SPARK FX conference in Vancouver but Team Ava from Ex Machina will be represented, and there will be presentations from other visual effects Oscar nominees Star Wars: The Force Awakens and  Mad Max: Fury Road. Plus a screening of the fifth visual effects nominee The Martian.

Place: Vancouver International Film Centre, VanCity Theatre.

February 6th.

9:00 a.m. Group from Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Vancouver present the visual effects of the J.J. Abrams-directed blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Winner of VES Award. (sold out)

11:00 a.m. Oscar nominee Paul Norris from Double Negative will talk about making android Ava, star of Alex Garland’s Ex Machina.

3:00 p.m. – Lindsay Adams presents Iloura’s work that helped bring George Miller’s vision to the screen,  totalling 1, 600 visual effects shots including those making up the Toxic Storm. Winner of Critics’ Choice Best Visual Effects.
