Dylan O’Brien injured himself Thursday on the Maze Runner: The Death Cure set in Cache Creek, BC. WorkSafe BC Prevention is on site to investigate at the Cache Creek airport where the accident occurred, according to Associated Press. It is not clear how severe O’Brien’s injuries are but director Wes Ball says he will be back to work in a few weeks. 20th Century Fox has shut down production temporarily while O’Brien recovers.
Cache Creek plays the desert landscape the Scorch in the third film in the franchise.
Maze Runner author James Dashner tweeted reassurances Friday.
I just want to let everyone know that yes, Dylan was hurt, but that he’s going to be okay. Not life threatening in any way.

Production is postponed but certainly not cancelled. All that matters now is that Dylan recovers. We love you, Dylan!!!

Well, it’s been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I’ve been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt. But, ultimately I find myself left with a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie. I’m sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew. It’s scary seeing your friend get hurt, but fortunately, Dylan is going to be just fine. After a few weeks of rest and recovery he’ll be back up and running to finish our adventure together. All the best.
And The Flash sent best wishes.
@dylanobrien hang in there, man. Our thoughts with you from Vancouver and #TheFlash. Get well.

The third film in the $600-million The Maze Runner trilogy — adapted from James Dashner’s novels — started filming this week. The Death Cure takes place a year or so after the Scorch Trials, with a grittier, more film noir look, according to the director Wes Ball. Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers team up with resistance fighters Right Arm to shut down WCKD for good. Cache Creek plays the desert landscape the Scorch.
All three films are directed by Wes Ball and scripted by T.S. Nowlin.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure started filming this week and was expected to wrap June 3rd (dates subject to change) according to the DGC-BC Production List.
And to open in theatres on February 17th, 2017
