Zombies in the Snow is the feature attraction at the Murnau Cinema for Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. The Netflix series, starring Neil Patrick Harris as the nefarious Count Olaf, is capping two days of filming at Kitsilano’s Old Hollywood Theatre. Zombies in the Snow is an important film in ASoUE. Count Olaf is thought to have appeared in it as the character Rolf when he was a young actor. And later attends a screening with the Baudelaire children and their new guardian Dr. Montgomery (Aasif Mandvi), with Olaf in disguise as Stephano, Dr. Montgomery’s lab assistant.

A Series of Unfortunate Events tells the story of the three orphaned-by-fire Baudelaire children — Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny — who are forced to live with their distant relative Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) after their mansion burns down. Turns out he’s scheming to get their inheritance so the children have to outwit him while solving the mystery of their parents’ death. Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) will narrate the events and appear on screen

Olaf is a master of disguise who started off as an actor and became a criminal as a member of a secret organization which began as the fire-starting side of the V.F.D. (Volunteer Fire Department). Did he kill the Baudelaire parents?

A Series of Unfortunate Events filmed interiors from Monday to Wednesday at the Clutch Theatre in east Vancouver where Neil Patrick Harris was photographed outside in costume as Count Olaf.

And then more interiors on Thursday and Friday inside the Old Hollywood Theatre before the late night exterior.

Author Daniel Handler and Barry Sonnenfeld are executive producers and Sonnenfeld will direct several episodes.

Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will film in metro Vancouver this Spring and Summer. Production started filming April 4th and is expected to wrap August 12th (date subject to change) according to the Directors Guild of Canada – BC production list.
