Update: Jake Gyllenhaal not coming to Vancouver. Has wrapped his role in Okja.
South Korean director Bong Joon Ho’s next English-language film Okja — about a girl who befriends a monster named Okja with a kind heart — will film a leg in metro Vancouver this August. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Lily Collins and Tilda Swinton who played Mason in the director’s cult classic Snowpiercer.

As well as Kelly MacDonald, Choi Woo Shik, Ahn Seo-hyun and Paul Danno. Okja is backed by streaming giant Netflix which launched in Korea this year. Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment is co-producing the film.
Okja is filming in Seoul, Korea from April 22nd to mid-July and then New York City from July 16th to 26th. The Vancouver leg is expected to start July 31st and wrap August 26th (dates subject to change) via the Directors Guild of Canada – BC Production List.
