SPARK Animation 2016 Conference kicked off this morning with a sold-out master class with Tomm Moore and Fabian Erlinghauser of the Oscar-nominated Cartoon Saloon in Ireland. Conference-goers got an inside look at the production of the lyrical Irish folk tale Song of the Sea, which tells the story of the last Seal-child Saoirse who embarks on a journey with her brother Ben to return to their home in the sea. Selklies are mythical Irish creatures who live on land as humans and seals in the sea.
All of the conference events take place at the Sheraton Wall Centre — not VanCity Theatre as in previous years. October 22-23.
