SPARK Animation 2016 Conference kicked off this morning with a sold-out master class with Tomm Moore and Fabian Erlinghauser of the Oscar-nominated Cartoon Saloon in Ireland. Conference-goers got an inside look at the production of the lyrical Irish folk tale Song of the Sea, which tells the story of the last Seal-child Saoirse who embarks on a journey with her brother Ben to return to their home in the sea. Â Selklies are mythical Irish creatures who live on land as humans and seals in the sea.
All of the conference events take place at the Sheraton Wall Centre — not VanCity Theatre as in previous years. October 22-23.
