The story of a very handsome actor and three selfish and ungrateful orphans who refuse to give him the enormous fortune their dead parents left behind – Count Olaf.

Are you a fan of the Lemony Snicket books? Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events  — with Neil Patrick Harris as the nefarious Count Olaf — streams early next year.

It actually tells the story of the three orphaned-by-fire Baudelaire children — Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny — who are forced to live with their distant relative Count Olaf (Patrick Harris) after their mansion burns down.

Turns out he’s scheming to get their inheritance so the children have to outwit him and his many devious disguises and plans while solving the mystery of their parents’ death. Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) narrates the events and appear on screen. Judge Strauss (Joan Cusack) is a judge who lives next door.

Author Daniel Handler and Barry Sonnenfeld are executive producers and Sonnenfeld directed several episodes.

The eight-episode series filmed in metro Vancouver this past Spring and Summer — starting in early April and wrapping in August. Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) was spotted on set in downtown Vancouver and at The Cultch theatre in east Vancouver and the old Hollywood theatre in Kitsilano. I ran into Patrick Harris in downtown Vancouver at lunch with his son shortly before the series wrapped here.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events streams January 13th 2017 on Netflix.
