It actually tells the story of the three orphaned-by-fire Baudelaire children — Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny — who are forced to live with their distant relative Count Olaf (Patrick Harris) after their mansion burns down.

Author Daniel Handler and Barry Sonnenfeld are executive producers and Sonnenfeld directed several episodes.

The eight-episode series filmed in metro Vancouver this past Spring and Summer — starting in early April and wrapping in August. Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) was spotted on set in downtown Vancouver and at The Cultch theatre in east Vancouver and the old Hollywood theatre in Kitsilano. I ran into Patrick Harris in downtown Vancouver at lunch with his son shortly before the series wrapped here.
