Can you break out like Michael and Linc at Austin’s South by Southwest?
Prison Break — which ran from 2004 to 2009 on FOX — is a series about brothers Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) who take turns breaking each other out of prison. In the 9-episode revival filmed in Vancouver and Morocco, Lincoln and Michael’s widow Sara team up after they discover Michael is still alive in a Yemen Prison. They plan a big breakout with the help of former prison inmates C-Note, T-Bag, Sucre and others. Prison Break spent almost three weeks filming Michael, Lincoln and C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) in Morocco as Yemen while Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) remained with her son Michael Jr. and new husband (Mark Fuerstein) in metro Vancouver as New York State. Somehow Michael and Linc get back America but that’s not the end of it.
Prison Break 5 is breaking out at SXSW this weekend, according to Deadline Hollywood. There’s a digital Escape Room on Instagram today where you can break out using Scofield’s origami cranes as clues. Those who break free get an exclusive scene from the premiere.
And on Saturday and Sunday at SWSX, there’s a one hour escape game where those who break free get a Prison Break photo of themselves.
Plus there’s a screening of the premiere on Sunday followed by a Q&A with Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies and Robert Knepper and the show’s creator Paul Scheuring and season 5 EPs.
The Prison Break trailer’s record 50 million views in 48 hours on youtube, facebook and Twitter indicates there’s a big appetite for this revival.
Prison Break returns April 4th on FOX.
