Distorted with Christina Ricci and John Cusack started filming in Kelowna today for a month-long shoot in the region. What’s Distorted about? A 30-something woman with bipolar disorder suspects that she and her husband are unwitting participants in a “synthetic telepathy” brainwashing plot in their state-of-the-art “smart apartment”. She suspects the proprietor of using the building’s residents as guinea pigs.
Why Kelowna? Producer Mind’s Eye Entertainment has set up an Okanagan office with plans to film more productions there after shooting The Humanity Bureau with Nicolas Cage there last Fall.
“We are pleased to be working again with Mind’s Eye Entertainment who filmed The Humanity Bureau, starring Nicolas Cage, last November in Oliver/Osoyoos, and set up an Okanagan office last spring. They are bringing another full production to be shot in the Okanagan which is significant as the Okanagan is becoming more established as a full production film and television centre,” Jon Summerland, Okanagan Film Commissioner told Global BC.
Today Distorted is filming in downtown Kelowna near the Kelowna Community Theatre and the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
And on Tuesday, Distorted is expected to spend the day shooting on Lakeshore Road between Cedar Creek Dog Park and the Summerhill Winery.
