START: PSYCH THE MOVIE With James Roday & Dule Hill Starts Filming in Vancouver

Psych is back together to make a holiday movie. Filming starts today on location in Vancouver at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre and then the Burrard Ironworks Building.

Where did we leave Psych? Shawn  Spencer(James Roday)’s police officer father Henry Spencer (Corbin Bernsen) trained him as a boy to remember every detail of his surroundings. Over eight seasons on the USA Network, Shawn passed off this remarkable observational ability as psychic powers. And with the help of his best friend Burton “Gus” Guster (Dule Hill), helped solve crimes for the Santa Barbara Police Department. The series wrapped with Shawn travelling to San Francisco to propose to his girlfriend, former SBPD officer Juliet O’Hara (Maggie Lawson). Original SBPD officers Carleton “Lassie” Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) and Chief Karen Vick (Kirsten Nelson) are back too. Update: Timothy Omundson suffered a stroke and so his scenes will be shot in Los Angeles after he recovers.

Co-written by creator Steve Franks and star James Roday, the two-hour movie picks up three years after the series finale and follows the crime-fighting team as they come together over the holidays after a mystery assailant targets one of their own.

“Steve [Franks] and James [Roday]  have taken the unique brand of comedy that the series honed over eight seasons and packed it into a two-hour movie that successfully rekindles one of the greatest bro-mances in television history,” said NBC Universal Cable Entertainment president Chris McCumber in a statement.

Filming starts today in Vancouver and is expected to wrap mid-June.

On the Directors Guild of Canada – BC Production List.

  1. OM Gus Goodness!!!! 😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗 this is a Christmas wish come true❤️❤️🎉🎈😭. The boys are back in town ☺️😁❤️

  2. Yes. Let’s make this a biannual thing. USA should have its own movie wheel like NBC and ABC did in the 70s and 80s. They could make movies of monk and psych and burn notice and white collar. Each show makes 2 or 3 two hour movies each year. That would give you 12 movies each year to rotate throughout the year. After 3 or 4 years of this they would have a nice collection of movies of their 4 top original shows.
