START: RIVERDALE Season 2 With KJ Apa, Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart & Cole Sprouse Starts Filming in Vancouver

Who shot Fred Andrews? Season One of The CW’s Archie Comics adaption Riverdale ended with an unknown assailant shooting Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) during a robbery at Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe as his son Archie (KJ Apa) watched helplessly. Did Hiram Lodge (newly cast Mark Consuelos) order the hit? That would complicate things with #Varchie — the shipper name for new couple Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) and Archie.

Whoever the shooter is, Archie is going to be a darker Archie in season 2. As is his best friend Jughead (Cole Sprouse). We last saw Jughead in his father’s trailer putting on a Southside Serpents jacket as Betty (Lili Reinhart) watched with concern. What does this mean for #Bughead — the shipper name for Betty and Jughead?

And what about the Coopers really being Blossoms? That makes Betty and Madaleine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom….cousins?

Season 2 is expected to be the north side versus the south side of town. And much of that ties back to the parents:  Archie’s Dad Fred Andrews, Molly Ringwald as Archie’s Mom Mary Andrews, Madchen Amick as Betty’s Mom Alice Cooper, Lochlyn Munro as Betty’s Dad Hal Cooper (originally a Blossom), Marisol Nichols as Veronica’s Mom Hermione Lodge, Mark Conseulos as Veronica’s Dad Hiram Lodge in season 2; Skeet Ulrich as Jughead’s Dad, Southside Serpent FP Jones, and not-yet-cast Jughead’s Mom.

Today Riverdale is on location in Fort Langley from mid-morning to late afternoon at Marine Park and along Church Street. It begins with a #Varchie walk along the river.

Riverdale starts filming a full season today in metro Vancouver and is expected to wrap March 21st (date subject to change).

Season 2 premieres Wednesday, October 11th at 8 p.m. on The CW.
