SHOWDOWN: Vancouver Street Performer Versus RIVERDALE’s Cole Sprouse (Jughead)

I’m begging you [to stop]…the production in there…we can’t film anymore — Cole Sprouse.

Acoustic street performer Babe Coal was singing in Robson Square last night (as she does regularly) and the sound interfered with production of the Archie Comics adaption Riverdale filming inside the old court rooms at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse aka Jughead came out to ask her to stop. “I’m begging you [to stop]…the production in there…we can’t film anymore,” he said. He asked her to stop for an hour. She refused. Frustrated he appealed to the crowd of fans, calling her a scam artist.

Aftermath.

Sprouse broke one of her CDs to applause from fans gathered outside the shoot.

What is Riverdale? It’s a CW TV series with a subversive take on the Archie comics with redhead Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) and his friends Jughead (Cole Sprouse), Betty (Lili Reinhart) and new girl Veronica (Camilla Mendes) finding out their perfect small town is not what it seems. There’s a darkness beneath its wholesome surface.

It was a dramatic finish to a day of shooting in downtown Vancouver which started with Cole Sprouse’s Jughead entering a tattoo parlour played by Penny Black Tattoo.

And then some interior scenes at the Lodge apartment played by the Permanent Building in the 300 block West Pender Street.

Fans followed the Riverdale gang from set to set.
