SEASON 7: Who is Regina (Lana Parrilla)’s Hip New Character Roni on ONCE UPON A TIME?

Who is Regina’s hip new character Roni in Seattle? In Once Upon a Time’s reset season 7, old favourites like Regina the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) are victims of a new curse that places them in Seattle’s Hyperion Heights, along with a grownup Henry (Andrew J. West), his daughter Lucy (Alison Fernandez) and her mother Jacinda (Dania Ramirez). Plus a Big Bad developer played by Gabrielle Anwar who tries to push out all the fairy tale characters by gentrifying the neighbourhood. In the new Enchanted Forest, Ramirez is the new Cinderella and Anwar is the new Cinderella (Ramirez)’s evil stepmother Lady Tremaine.

Roni owns a bar called Roni’s which will be the new Granny’s Diner.

On Monday, Once upon  a Time shot a big sequence in New Westminster as Hyperion Heights of Jacinda (Ramirez) giving a speech about saving community gardens under threat from Belfrey Developments. Her daughter Lucy (Fernandez), Henry (West) and bar owner Roni (Parrilla) are in the crowd applauding her.

All eyes were on Regina’s new bar owner character Roni. Where was the Storybrooke Mayor’s signature pant suit? Instead she had on jeans, a black sleeveless T-shirt with a black leather jacket and leopard-spotted boots.

This isn’t the Regina we know.

In between takes, the actors hugged one another and gave Dania Ramirez high fives for making it through her long speech again and again.

Later Once Upon a Time shot some sequences of Henry, Jacinda and Lucy on an outing.

Andrew J. West and Alison Fernandez have bonded off-camera.

Once Upon a Time season 7 premieres Friday, October 6th,  at 8 p.m. on ABC.
