Steve Carell stars in Robert Zemeckis’s next big movie as a man who loses his memory after a severe beating and turns to his imagination to cope. Based on documentary Marwencol, it’s the true story of cross dresser Mark Hogancamp who was beaten by a gang of teenagers and woke up with no memory of his life. To cope, he built a “one-sixth scale model of a World War II-era Belgian village” in his backyard with small dolls in the image of him and his friends.

Leslie Mann, Diane Kruger, Janelle Monae and Eiza Gonzalez co-star.

Steve Carell had another exterior on the sidewalk early Wednesday morning and then went inside for interior filming in “Al’s Hobby House” which sells trains, models, paints, DC aircraft and military collectibles — the perfect supplies for a miniature WWII village.
