FANS: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Meets More Fans Up The Road From SKYSCRAPER Studio in North Vancouver

It’s become a semi-regular thing. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson meets fans after a long day of shooting his upcoming action thriller Skyscraper on the North Vancouver drydocks. Last night  he stopped after midnight for fans waiting up the road from studio.

Last week he stopped for fan Mr. Excellent holding up a giant print of The Rock’s face.

And don’t ever interrupt me again Google maps. Wrapped a 16hr work day and dog tired. As I’m loading up my truck, my security says “there’s a guy up there by railroad tracks who’s been waiting for the past 3 nights about 8hrs a night. You’re finally gonna see when you drive by. Why is The Rock here? He’s filming 3D action thriller Skyscraper at Washington Studio at Vancouver Drydocks in North Vancouver.

It sounds like a Die Hard movie set in Hong Kong. The Rock stars as Will Ford, a former veteran and FBI hostage rescue team leader, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. When the world’s tallest, safest tower goes up in flames in Hong Kong while he’s on assignment, Johnson finds himself framed for the arson. How will he clear his name and rescue his family trapped in the tower above the fire line?

Neve Campbell, Chin Han, Bryon Mann and Hannah Quinlivan co-star.

Week 2:
Stunt.

1am. On set of #SKYSCRAPER. Minutes away from me scaling the world’s tallest building in what will be insanely rad stunt and breathtaking scene in our movie. Our Director of Photography, Robert Elswit won an Oscar for one of my favorite movies – THERE WILL BE BLOOD. The man knows how to calm a set before all hell breaks loose.. thus the beautiful jazz music of the iconic Sonny Collins in the background. WEEK 2 complete of shooting our action thriller #SKYSCRAPER. Not a very sexy shot, but I like the story here. Takin’ a few minutes between scenes to “circle the wagons” with our supervising stunt coordinator @alpop.stunts and @sevenbucksprod president and producer @hhgarcia41 to kick around ideas on a very intense and raw fight that I have in the movie. Clearly I’m captivating these two men with my expressive hands, because Hiram looks bored and Alan is already putting his computer away. #SKYSCRAPER #Week2 #CalmBeforeTheChaos

Skyscraper started filming here in mid-August and is expected to wrap mid-November.

It looks like production will leave the Drydocks at some point for on-location filming in downtown Vancouver.

Skyscraper will be in theatres next summer on July 13th, 2018.
