SEASON 2: A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS With Neil Patrick Harris Streams March 30th on Netflix

Count Olaf breaks the fourth wall in a A Message from Count Olaf to announce Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2 will stream March 30th on Netflix.

Adapted from the Lemony Snicket book series, A Series of Unfortunate Events is one of Netflix’s “most savored shows” worldwide, ranking at #4 in 2017 after The Crown at #1.

What’s it about? A Series of Unfortunate Events tells the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny – whose evil guardian Count Olaf will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. Based on the internationally best-selling series of books by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) the series stars Emmy and Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf and Patrick Warburton as narrator Lemony Snicket.

The eight-episode first season was executive produced by Emmy Award winner Barry Sonnenfeld and author Daniel Handler. It filmed in Vancouver in 2016.
The 10-episode second season does books five through nine, spending two episodes per book for a total of ten episodes.
Barry Sonnenfeld returned to direct Book 5: The Austere Academy where the Baudelaire orphans are sent to a boarding school run by monsters with Count Olaf in disguise as a turban-wearing gym teacher called Gengis.  Sara Rue is a “librarian” and Roger Bart is Vice Principal Nero.
This is followed by Book 6: The Ersatz Elevator, where the Baudelaire orphans are sent to live with wealthy Esmé and Jerome Squalor (Lucy Punch and Tony Hale), who reside in a penthouse at 667 Dark Street with a dysfunctional elevator. The Baudelaires discover two of the three Quagmire triplets — with Duncan played by local Vancouver actor Dylan Kingwell — in a cage at the bottom of the elevator.


 Count Olaf’s disguise in this book is as Esme’s  stylist Gunther, a Karl Lagerfeld type.

Production then moved on to Book 7: The Vile Village where the Baudelaire orphans are sent into the care of an entire village known as V.F.D., Village of Fowl Devotees, to live with Hector the Handyman. Count Olaf’s disguise this time is as Detective Dupin with his girlfriend Esme Squalor masquerading as police officer Luciana. They investigate the death of a fake “Count Olaf” — actually Jacques Snicket (Nathan Fillion) — and accuse the Baudelaire orphans of murdering him.

In Book 8: The Hostile Hospital, the Baudelaire orphans — homeless and accused of murder — take refuge in the half-built Heimlich hospital. Count Olaf and friends scheme to perform a craniectomy on Violet. Klaus and Sunny work together to save her from dying in the operation. The hospital burns down.
And in Book 9: The Carnivorous Carnival, the Baudelaire orphans try to hide out as freaks at the Caligari Carnival only to discover that Count Olaf has been lurking at the carnival. They almost end up in a lion pit but escape.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2  started filming April 17th in metro Vancouver and wrapped November 1st.

It streams March 30th on Netflix.
