He found courage in the most unexpected place.
Steve Carell stars in Robert Zemeckis’s Welcome to Marwen as a man who loses his memory after a severe beating and turns to his imagination to cope. Based on documentary Marwencol, it’s the true story of Mark Hogancamp who was beaten by a gang of teenagers and woke up with no memory of his life. To cope, he built a “one-sixth scale model of a World War II-era Belgian village” in his backyard with small dolls in the image of him and his friends.
