RENEWED: ALTERED CARBON Gets Season 2 With Anthony Mackie as Interstellar Warrior’s New Body

In the 25th century, humans are digitized and can be downloaded into different bodies, making death almost obsolete.

Takeshi Kovacs has a new sleeve in Altered Carbon season 2.

Anthony Mackie (Falcon in Marvel’s The Avengers mega-franchise) takes over from Joel Kinnaman.

Netflix renewed its hard R-rated sci-fi series Altered Carbon for a second season today, with Laeta Kalogridis returning as showrunner of her adaption of Richard K. Morgan’s dystopian, cyberpunk book.

What’s it about?

Takeshi Kovacs, the last of the interstellar warriors known as the Envoys, had his consciousness downloaded into a new body (sleeve) in the San Francisco of the 25th Century, after 500 years in dark storage.

Altered Carbon season one filmed 10 episodes in metro Vancouver from mid-November in 2016 to early July in 2017, mainly in  Surrey’s Skydance Studios on giant sets built on the new five sound-stage studio converted from the former Province and Vancouver Sun printing press. And in downtown Vancouver in the former Canada Post building, now being repurposed as a tech hub.

Altered Carbon streamed on Netflix on February 2nd this year.

Altered Carbon season 2 (working title Sleeves) expected to start filming in early February next year and wrap in June.
