TNT ‘s Snowpiercer series start filming in Vancouver under new showrunner Graeme Manson (Orphan Black), who replaced Josh Friedman.
Filming dates: August 20th to December 22nd.
Inspired by Bong Joon Ho’s futuristic 2013 thriller with Chris Evans, the 10-episode series takes place seven years after a post-apocalyptic Ice Age — the Freeze– aboard a perpetual moving train, which holds the remnants of humanity.
Cast: Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Steven Ogg, Iddo Goldberg, Benjamin Haigh, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Jaylin Fletcher. Susan Park, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Lena Hall.
Snowpiercer film:
Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) co-star in the series.
Jennifer Connelly is Melanie Cavill at the Front, working as the Voice of the Train and lives in first-class.
Daveed Diggs is at the Tail end and becomes a reluctant participant in a mystery that rocks the train’s status quo.
Simon Ogg is Pike, a leader in the Tail and career convict, who escaped from jail at the time of the Freeze.
Iddo Goldberg is Bennett, an engineer who designed the train and knows its secrets.
Benjamin Haigh is Fergus Connell who lives at the Tail of the train in poverty.
Jaylin Fletcher is Miles, one of the few children in the Tail and smart enough to move forward as an apprentice.
Alison Wright (The Americans) is at the front end.
Mickey Sumner is brakeman Bess Till, part of the train’s security force.
Scott Derrickson (who helmed Doctor Strange) directed the pilot which filmed in Vancouver last Fall but he didn’t like new showrunner Graeme Manson’s “radically different vision” and will not return for “the extreme reshoots”.
The 72-page Snowpiercer TV pilot script by @Josh_Friedman is the best I’ve ever read. The feature-length pilot I made from that script may be my best work.
