Motherland: Fort Salem Season 1.
Freeform’s Motherland: Fort Salem — about an alternate America’s witch military — shared an extended trailer today at the New York City Upfronts.
The new series follows young witches — Taylor Hickson, Jessica Sutton and Ashley Nicole Williams — from basic training to combat magic in this female military. Williams is a recast of one of the leads from the pilot.
Filming dates: April 22nd to August 16th.
In an alternate America, gender and power are reversed, with women on the military front lines not men. Amd in another twist, their weapons are supernatural not guns and bullets. The pilot follows young witches –Taylor Hickson as Raelle (who’s outraged at her mother’s death while serving), Ashley Nicole Williams as Abigail (whose mother is a decorated general), Jessica Sutton as Tally (whose mother doesn’t want her in the military) and Amalia Holm as Scylla — from basic training in combat magic to deployment. Demetria McKinney is Anacostia, a tough but funny staff sergeant, whose job is to keep the young recruits alive until they’re deployed at Fort Salem against powerful witch terrorists known as The Spree.
From Claws creator Eliot Laurence and Gary Sanchez Productions, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay from Funny or Die are two of the producers, along with Kevin Messick.
