Riverdale is honoring the real-life passing of Luke Perry with a Fred Andrews tribute for the season 4 premiere titled In Memorium.
Luke Perry’s Beverly Hills 90210 castmate Shannen Doherty guest-stars in an undisclosed role.
[Luke and Shannen] were such good friends, and when we were putting together this tribute episode, we wanted to make it as special as possible, and so we asked Shannen to do a pivotal, super-emotional role. She read the script and immediately said yes. It’s very impactful — Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa at San Diego Comic Con.
I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale. The care in which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful. He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever. — Shannen Doherty.
On a lighter note, what a wonderful thing to see Luke Perry and his TV son KJ Apa cracking each other up on the blooper reel.
