TV PILOTS: The CW’s Reimagining of KUNG FU With a Female Lead is Filming in Vancouver

A reimagining of the 1970s series Kung Fu starring David Carradine with a young Chinese-American woman as the lead.

Filming dates: March 9th to 31st.

Inspired by the original series, the new Kung Fu is about Nicky, a young-Chinese American woman who drops out of college and goes to an isolated monastery in China to learn martial arts skills and Shaolin values. When she returns home she uses kung fu to protect her community and bring criminals to justice ….while searching for the assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now targeting her.

Cast: Tzi Ma, Kheng Hua Tan, Jon Prasida, Shannon Dang, Eddie Liu.

Characters:

Nicky’s parents Jin Chen (Tzi Ma), and mother Mei-Li  (Kheng Hua Tan)— a husband-and-wife restaurateurs whose secrets threaten to destroy their lives just as they deal with the return of their estranged daughter.

Nicky’s brother Ryan Chen, (Jon Prasida) a quick-witted medical student who has to deal with the sudden return of his estranged older sister.

Nicky’s older sister Althea Chen (Shannon Dang), who’s newly engaged and on her way to planning her dream Chinese wedding.

Henry Chu (Eddie Liu), a martial arts instructor and Chinese art history buff who has instant chemistry with Nicky.
