I am thrilled to continue a great relationship with Amazon Studios and this wonderful cast and find out what happens next to Nora and Nathan and Ingrid and their 2033 world. With this news I can stop drawing my season 2 flip book. — show runner Greg Daniels.
Cast: Robbie Amell, Andy Allo, Allegra Edwards.
What’s it about?
Seriously injured in a self-driving car crash, coder Nathan Brown (Robbie Amell) has to make a decision — to take his chances in hospital or upload his consciousness to a virtual-reality afterlife.
His rich, shallow, controlling girlfriend (Allegra Edwards) can afford to pay for his luxurious Lakeview afterlife, which comes with 3D food printers, hologram phones and a talking Golden Retriever therapist.
Nora (Andy Allo) is a customer service representative at Horizen, the company which manages this upscale virtual afterlife.

From Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation) comes Upload, a new sci-fi comedy. In 2033, people who are near death can be “uploaded” into virtual reality environments. Cash-strapped Nora works customer service for the luxurious “Lakeview” digital afterlife. When party-boy/coder Nathan’s car crashes, his girlfriend uploads him into Nora’s VR world.
Creator and showrunner Greg Daniels called Upload a genre mashup of satire, romance, action and murder-mystery during a New York Times set visit in Vancouver.
Greg Daniels directs Robbie Amell in the 45-minute premiere.
Horizen offers different Upload plans based on what families can afford.
“Being uploaded and essentially being owned as a human being, or as intellectual property, by my girlfriend throws a huge wrench in my [after] life,” Robbie Amell told The New York Times.
Upload filmed in Vancouver in the Spring of 2019.
