Deadline’s Nellie Andrews reports several American series are making plans to restart production in Vancouver this July-August, with Covid-19 safety protocols.

Possible production starts:

Supernatural’s final 2 episodes — late July?

The Good Doctor season 4 –  late July?

Charmed season 3 – August?

A Million Little Things season 3 – August?

The Flash season 7 — August/September?

Riverdale season 5 – August/September?

Pandemic Timeline.

It’s been over three months since film & TV production shut down  in Vancouver in mid-March, joining movies and series around the world  that halted production or delayed starts because of the coronavirus/Covid-19 pandemic.

Supernatural only had two episodes left to shoot in Vancouver for its final season. Other series like The Flash and Riverdale were unable to complete their seasons but plan to roll unfilmed episodes into their new seasons.

This month British Columbia and California both lifted restrictions on film and TV production giving the green light for production to restart but there is still no agreement between the major studios and the guilds/unions on Covid-19 safety protocols.

And the Canada-US border remains closed to non-essential travel.

Any necessary cast, creators or crew from outside Canada can get exemptions but will have to do the government-mandated 14-day quarantines before heading to set.

Smaller productions like Hallmark movies started filming in Vancouver this month with Canadian crews and directors.

Bigger productions won’t get restarted until late July at the earliest and plan to use more Canadian guest-stars and episodic directors, too, Deadline says.

Local talent like directors James Bamford and Amanda Tapping will be in big demand.
