REOPENING: BATWOMAN Season 2 With Javicia Leslie Plans To Start Filming This Fall in Vancouver

Reopening Hollywood North

Updated:

Batwoman plans to start filming season 2 soon in Vancouver, with new character Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) picking up the cowl and cape.

Target filming dates: September 3rd to May 10th, 2021 (via DCG-BC Production List).

Ryan Wilder: She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before her. With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero.

Ruby Rose won’t be back.

Being the lead of a superhero show is tough. — Ruby Rose.

She decided to leave Batwoman after one season because being the lead is a tough workload, she had a lot of pain from not having given herself enough time to recover from back surgery and she made a pandemic reassessment about what she wanted to do with her life.

The show will address Ruby Rose’s departure with a season two mystery about Kate Kane’s disappearance.

Cast: Javicia Leslie, Camrus Johnson, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang. Dougray Scott.

The new Bat Team will have started their Canadian government mandated 14-day full quarantines in Vancouver.

How is The CW handling the delayed production because of the pandemic?

New seasons of Batwoman, The Flash and Superman & Lois don’t premiere until January 2021.

New seasons of Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will premiere in the Spring/Summer of 2021.

Where did we leave Batwoman?

Alice (Rachel Skarsten) crossed the point of no return. Obsessed with finding Kryptonite, she killed  Mouse when he threatened to leave her if she didn’t give up her vendetta against her family.

Then Alice transformed the face of Bruce Wayne-obsessed Hush into a faux Bruce Wayne (Warren Christie) so that he could go to Wayne Tower and take Kate Kane’s kryptonite shard.

Will Batwoman take the scripts from the two episodes that it didn’t shoot when production shut down prematurely and roll them into season 2? Or do they need to be rewritten to address the missing Kate Kane (Ruby Rose)?

What has the cast been doing?

Camrus Johnson spoke at the Black Lives Matter protest in Vancouver.

Season 2 of Batwoman will premiere in January 2021.
