Season 4 of The Good Doctor is coming November 2nd with Dr. Shaun Murphy in his fourth year of residency and facing a global pandemic in the Covid-centric 2-part premiere.

Addressing the pandemic in a big season opener is apt since back in March, The Good Doctor production office made arrangements with the BC government about which medical supplies it could provide.

Season 4 has been filming safely in Vancouver with new Covid-19 safety protocols since September 2nd.

The hit ABC show had expected to be the first major American series to start filming this summer until pre-production shut down suddenly on July 31st over testing issues.

Star Freddie Highmore had already flown in with his partner and embarked on his Canadian government-mandated 14-day self-quarantine in July.
“He loves Vancouver, they’re both happy here, so that isn’t tough,” local uber producer Shawn Williamson told CTV News.
But then there was a six-week delay.
Once the studio and the BC Council came to an agreement,, Christina Chang, Richard Schiff and Will Yun Lee flew into Vancouver on August 21st to start their 14-day quarantines.
Where did we leave the show?
The Good Doctor will return without original cast member Nicholas Gonzalez, whose character Dr. Neil Melendez died from internal injuries sustained when a brewery collapsed during an earthquake in the season 3 finale.

Jasika Nicole won’t return as a series regular either. She played Shaun’s girlfriend in season 3 but broke up with him because of his feelings for Lea.
Season 3 ended with Shaun and Lea sharing a passionate kiss.
That would have been an uplifting way to wrap if not for the tragic death back at St. Bonaventure Hospital.
