Groundhog Day meets Enchanted.

Apple TV+’s musical comedy series starring Saturday Night Live’s Cecily Strong has gathered a strong ensemble cast of comedians and Broadway stars:

Keegan-Michael Key, Dove Cameron, Aaron Tveit, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, Kristin Chenoweth, Jane Krakowski, Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil and Ann Harada.

Will this project about the magical town of Schmigadoon from Lorne Michaels and Barry Sonnenfeld still film in Vancouver this Fall?

A couple goes on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship when they discover the magical town of Schmigadoon, in which everyone acts as if they’re in a studio musical from the 1940s. They then discover that they can’t leave until they find “true love.”

Characters:

Cecity Strong  as Melissa, one half of the backpacking couple.

Keegan-Michael Key as Melissa’s practical, long-term partner Josh, who’s the last person who wants to be stuck in this magical town.

Aaron Tveit is Danny Bailey, the town bad boy who is trouble with a capital T, especially once he sets his sights on Melissa.

Dove Cameron is Betsy, the farmer’s daughter who instantly falls for Josh.

Alan Cumming is Mayor Menlove, the welcoming mayor of the town with a secret (and a song) in his heart.

Ann Harada is Florence Menlove, the oblivious and dutiful wife of Mayor Menlove.

Fred Armisen is Reverend Layton, the mild-mannered religious leader of the town.

Kristin Chenoweth is Mildred Layton, Reverend Layton’s morally superior wife who is in everybody’s business.

Jaime Camil is Doc Lopez, the handsome town doctor with an icy heart.

Jane Krakowski is The Countess, a stunning and sophisticated woman determined to marry Doc Lopez.

Ariana DeBose is Emma Tate, a modern woman and the town’s teacher, she struggles to fit into the town’s strict mold.
