It’s been two years since siblings Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis) saved Christmas, and a lot has changed. Kate, now a cynical teenager, is reluctantly spending Christmas in Cancun with her mom’s new boyfriend and his son Jack (Jahzir Bruno). Unwilling to accept this new version of her family, Kate decides to run away. But when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel threatens to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas for good, Kate and Jack are unexpectedly pulled into a new adventure with Santa Claus (Kurt Russell). Written and directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter) and co-starring Goldie Hawn.

The Christmas Chronicles 2 opens with magical troublemaker Belsnickel (Deadpool 2’s Julian Dennison) in the South Pole, threatening to destroy the North Pole and Christmas for good.
And then visits true believer Kate (Big Little Lies’ Darby Camp), being a buzzkill on vacation in Cancun with her brother Teddy (Judah Lewis), her Mom Claire (Kimberly Williams Paisley), her Mom’s boyfriend Bob (Tyrese Gibson) and Bob’s son Jack (Jahzir Bruno).
Some lucky Vancouver film crew got to shoot on location in Cancun for two weeks at the beginning of 2020..
Most of the action take place in Santa (Mrs. Claus)’s Village.
But Santa does get to rock out in Christmas Chronicles 2.
As he did in the original Christmas Chronicles.
The Christmas Chronicles 2 filmed in Vancouver last Fall/Winter.
Filming dates: October 21st – February 1, 2020.
Start of production was pushed back a few times. The Flash’s Danielle Panabaker travelled with Goldie Hawn on a flight from Vancouver to Los Angeles in mid-September.
The Haunting of Bly Manor showrunner Mike Flanagan gave up his seat in mid-October so that Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn could sit together on a flight to Vancouver.
On a flight this morning, I swapped seats with Kurt Russell so that he could sit next to Goldie Hawn. I would love to say I made it through the exchange without stammering like a complete and total idiot… but NOPE.

The original The Christmas Chronicles filmed in Toronto and was a massive hit for Netflix with 20 million streams in its first week in 2018.

On Christmas Eve 2018, a brother and sister hatch a plan to catch Santa Claus on camera. They discover he’s real but after they stowaway on his sleigh and cause it to crash land in Chicago, they need to help Santa save Christmas.
