NEW SEASON: SNOWPIERCER Season 3 With Daveed Diggs & Jennifer Connelly Starts Filming in Vancouver

Snowpiercer

The Snowpiercer World  is Getting Warmer.

What will that mean for season 3 of  Snowpiercer which starts filming in Vancouver today?

Filming dates: March 2nd to July 30th.

Snowpiercer was renewed just ahead of its season 2 premiere on January 25th  on TNT and January 26th on Netflix outside the U.S.

Inspired by Oscar-winner Bong Joon Ho’s futuristic 2013 thriller with Chris Evans, the Snowpiercer series takes place seven years after a post-apocalyptic Ice Age — the Freeze– aboard a perpetually moving train that circles the globe with the rich at the Front and the poor at the Tail end.

Showrunner: Graeme Manson.

Cast: Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Alison Wright, Sheila Vand, Annalise Basso, Lena Hall, Roberto Urbina, Katie McGuinness, Sam Otto, Miranda Edwards, Mike O’Malley, Steve Ogg, Karen Konavol, Rowan Blanchard, Archie Panjabi.

New to season 3 is Archie Panjabi as a new character called Ashia.

 What happened in season one?

Train managers Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) and Ruth Wardle (Alison Wright) at the Front end recruited former homicide detective Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) from the Tail end  to investigate a sadistic murder.

The investigation gave the “Tailie” the means to move between the Classes and access to formerly forbidden areas.

During the investigation, Andre figured out the culprit was in First Class and learned Melanie’s secret — that Mr. Wilford is not aboard and she is the real Boss of the train. For this, she has him drawered.

3rd Class and the Tailies staged a revolt in which Big John (Jonathan Lloyd Walker) is killed.

In the finale, Melanie and Andre teamed up with a plan to uncouple the cars containing Commander Grey and his enforcers from the two ends and let them veer away (unfortunately with some shackled Tailies). Afterwards the front and tail ends recoupled, but Melanie was missing.

It’s a successful revolution for new Tailie Leader Andre Layton until Big Alice attached itself to Snowpiercer and brought both trains to a halt.  Instead of Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean), a young woman boarded — Melanie’s daughter (Rowan Blanchard).

What’s happened in season 2 so far?

Mr. Wilford returns to Snowpiercer and brings chaos and corruption to the freedom just won.

We met the train’s creator Mr. Wilford, who did not die when the train left the station in Chicago without him seven years ago. He took  refuge aboard his prototype of Snowpiercer called Big Alice.

I’m back and I’ve come to take what’s mine — Mr Wilford.
