Netflix’s Maid with Margaret Qually is looking very west coast of B.C. in its trailer and poster, which makes sense since the single-mother-turned-maid series was filmed in Victoria last Fall/Winter.
Inspired by Stephanie Land’s memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive, Maid follows the story of Alex (Margaret Qualley), a single mother who turns to housecleaning to — barely — make ends meet as she escapes an abusive relationship and overcomes homelessness to create a better life for her daughter, Maddy (Rylea Nevaeh Whittet).
Cast: Margaret Qualley, Andie MacDowell, Billy Burke, Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose and Tracy Vilar.
Margaret Qualley stars as Alex the maid..
Nick Robinson is Alex’s abusive boyfriend Sean.
Rylea Nevaeh Whittet is their daughter Maddy.
And Margaret Qualley’s real-life mother Andie MacDowell is her on-screen mother Paula.
Producers: John Wells Productions, Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.
Filmed in Victoria.
