Paramount+ Prequel Series GREASE: RISE OF THE PINK LADIES To Film in Vancouver in 2022

Paramount+’s prequel series Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladies is coming to Vancouver..

A musical series set in and around the world of 1950s Rydell High explores how Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty, and Jan came together before ruling Rydell High in their senior year. Inspired by the 1978 musical movie Grease.

Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, held the title of highest-grossing live-action musical movie of all time before Disney launched its mega-musical movie franchise, starting with Beauty and the Beast.

The prequel series is already fundraising for the BC Film industry’s Reel Thanksgiving Challenge 2021 ahead of the start of filming in early 2022.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is set four years before the original Grease. Before rock ‘n’ roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up, outcast girls dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever. The spinoff series explores how Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty, and Jan came together before ruling Rydell High in their senior year.

The prequel series will focus on new characters not younger versions of Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty and Jan, the four Pink Ladies from Grease.

Originally intended for HBO Max, the series was moved to Paramount +
