Amanda Tapping Directs Episode 5 of HBO Max’s DEAD BOY DETECTIVES in Vancouver

Vancouver legend Amanda Tapping is directing episode five of HBO Max’s new series Dead Boy Detectives.

Dead Boy Detectives is a fresh take on a ghost story that explores loss, grief, and death through the lens of Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), two dead British teenagers, and their very alive friend, Crystal Palace (Kassius Nelson). So, it’s a lot like a vintage detective series — only darker and on acid.

Filming at Point Grey Senior Secondary in Kerrisdale today.

Season One filming dates: November 07 2022 – March 20 2023

Showrunners: Steve Yockey, Arrow’s Beth Schwartz.

Cast: George Rexstrew, Jayden Revri, Kassius Nelson, Ruth Connell, Briana Cuoco, Jenn Lyon, Yuyu Kitamura, Lukas Gage, Caitlin Reilly, Max Jenkins.

George Rexstrew is Edwin Payne.

Jayden Revri is Charles Rowland.

Kassius Nelson is Crystal Palace.

Supernatural’s Ruth Connell remains the demon Night Nurse. She debuted the character on Doom Patrol.

Lukas Gage takes over the role of the Cat King from Supernatural’s Alexander Calvert

Briana Cuoco (Kaley Cuoco’s sister) is Jenny, a punk butcher.

Jenn Lyon is Esther, a witch; and Yuyu Kitamura is Niko, a student who wants to join the agency, Caitlin Reilly and Max Jenkins play Litty and Kingham, tiny foul-mouthed dandelion sprites. They are a rude annoyance to the Dead Boys.”

Neil Gaiman’s graphic novels follow two teenagers who were murdered at St. Hilarion’s Boarding School: Edwin Paine, in 1916 by a group of bullies, and Charles Rowland, in 1990 by the ghosts of the same group of bullies. When the two spirits meet and are not taken to Hell, they instead start up a detective agency together. At a later point, Charles saves the life of Crystal Palace and she joins the agency as its only living member using her skills with technology and as a psychic to aid their investigations.

From The Flight Attendant’s Steve Yockey, Doom Patrol’s Jeremy Carver, Uber Producer Greg Berlanti. and Neil Gaiman.
